Years behind the chair taught me something the industry rarely says aloud: we formulate for texture, for type, for concern — almost never for the day a person actually has. I'd watched seasonal perfume houses compose once and move on, watched fashion and wine treat the calendar as part of the craft, and wondered why hair care never had. Growing up in Scotland, where four seasons can pass before lunch, the question felt less like an idea and more like something I'd always known. Backstage before shows — adjusting for heat, humidity, wind, cold, sometimes all in one call sheet — I started to think I might build the thing I kept looking for.
